The STC

As seen in our installation instructions above we use four drilled holes to secure the top portion of the windshield into the airframe.  Our competition claims that cracks can potentially start from these holes.  We use elastomer bushings between the screws and the windshield to help prevent any chance of cracking. We also drill the holes here at Great Lakes Aero Products by our trained experts during the manufacturing process to ensure the holes are drilled properly.
(there are no holes to be drilled in to the windshield by the installer) the only holes that need to be drilled by the installer are in the airframe.
.
When we did testing for the STC approval we sheared a screw, WITHOUT cracking the windshield.

The Purpose of this Page:
It was brought to our attention that one of our competitors decided to post information concerning potential problems of our Cessna STC'd windshields. Since we have NEVER have had any reports of such failures or problems we decided to look into the matter.  It is our goal here at Great Lakes Aero Products, Inc. to supply aircraft owners with the highest quality windshields and windows available to the aviation marketplace.  With this in mind we contacted the FAA in an attempt to ascertain whether or not there has been any reported problems with the windshields in question.
..
